To assist the WA Building and Construction sector the WA State Government is now offering “Building Bonus Grants” to people who enter into a contract to build a new home on vacant land or purchase a new home being constructed under a single-tier development on a strata plan or other land survey type.

The State Government Building Bonus is a grant of $20,000, eligible applicants must enter into a contract between 4 June 2020 and 31 December 2020.

The WA State Government Building Bonus Grant is different to the Commonwealth Government HomeBuilder Grant (for more information on the HomeBuilder Grant please see here), and the First Homeowner grant (for more information on the first homeowner grant see here). If an applicant receives the WA State Government Building Bonus, they may still be eligible to receive the First Homeowner grant as well as the Commonwealth HomeBuilder Grant.

There is no cap on the purchase price or the value of the contract, and multiple grants can be paid to the same applicant on separate transactions (all transactions need to meet the criteria for each grant).

You do not need to be living in WA to apply for the grant and you can be either an owner occupier, investor, Australian citizen, permanent resident, foreign person, corporation or trust.

Currently no application for is available for this grant, but is expected to be available soon.
